Samuel had another doctor's appointment today to check his jaundice, and then goes back in another week. He is up to 7lbs and 1 oz, almost back to his birth weight.
I happened to peek out the window when Daddy and Elsie were playing outside this afternoon, and this is what I saw!
It has been quite a roller coaster ride, but we welcomed our son, Samuel Donald into the world on Sunday January 18th, at 5:44 PM! He was a big boy for 36 weeks gestation, weighing in at 7 pounds 4 ounces, and 20 3/4 inches long. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes, we are very blessed and thankful, and it is great to finally be home! Here is Dad holding little Sam for the very first time.
I spent most of the week, prior to delivering Samuel, in the hospital due to bleeding. Early Monday morning, January 12th, I woke up in the night with heavy bleeding. By the time I reached the hospital I was having strong contractions. They were able to stop my contractions, but I continued the bleeding episodes. After delivering Sam, it was discovered that I had a rupture on my placenta, causing the bleeding, and early labor, which was not detected on my ultrasound. My placenta was sent to a specialist, so hopefully we will get some answers. Here is Sam and Mom in the nursery a few hours after birth. He had to stay in the nursery the first night because he had low blood sugar, but this quickly corrected itself.

Elsie's interest in her brother was short lived, once she discovered Mom had french fries on her lunch tray!

lots of time in the sun so that we wouldn't have to stay in the hospital any longer that we had to!
It must have worked because we were able to go home that evening.

I was reminded of how cool cornstarch and water(goop) can be to play with after viewing Jenny and Aunt Joann's blogs. I first made this concoction in one of my Masters courses (Elem. Science).
Needless to say, Elsie had fun playing with it. 
I didn't even have to show her how make it string from her fingers, she dove right in and discovered for herself!
Samuel was wide awake for some of our company today. Earlier we had Grandma and Grandpa D., followed by Grandma G., Rick and Uncle Russell.
Elsie enjoyed showing Grandma G. her brother Sam. It looks like he was more interested in eating her hand though.
Sam loves to stretch out after living in tight quarters the past eight months.
Tired yet belly-less.
